Thank you for visiting Bauernfeind Divorce Law!   If you are reading this material, you are likely experiencing a very difficult stage in life or are contemplating decisions that may lead to uncertainty and upheaval.   I appreciate that.

You are likely looking for meaningful information about divorce law – and undoubtedly have many questions about various financial, legal, and personal issues involved in the process.  While you will find some basic, general information on this website, it is not designed to provide comprehensive answers to your unique questions or individual situation.   No website can do that.   Instead, the information provided here is to introduce you to my law firm and how it is different from others you may come across.

Personal

Personal

The hallmark of my practice is close, personalized attention to each and every client. No case is ever "passed on" to another attorney nor does office staff work on substantive client issues. I personally attend to the client’s needs during each and every stage of the divorce process. Through close, personalized attention to each individual, I am often able to develop resolutions in divorce actions that are specifically tailored to the unique situation of the individual and to anticipate and prevent potential difficulties that might arise after a divorce has been finalized.

Perspective

Perspective

Prior to launching my own divorce law firm, I practiced business and real estate litigation. In that position, I was expected to resolve even the most challenging cases in a timely manner while always watching the bottom-line. Today I apply those same skills to divorce cases. In addition, my former business and real estate litigation experience provides me with unique expertise in divorce cases involving complex equitable distribution cases, especially those involving complicated small business and property valuations.

Prepared

Prepared

On occasion, cases cannot be resolved through negotiation or mediation, and must ultimately be decided by the courts. I have successfully represented clients in courtroom proceedings in nearly a dozen counties throughout North Carolina. I have tried cases before judges and juries and have also represented clients in state, federal, and appellate courts. I also have substantial experience representing clients in proceedings that can arise during or following the divorce process – including lawsuits to enforce separation agreements, contempt proceedings for failure to pay child support, and litigation involving closely held companies.
